i received $25 from amazon due to their glitch and my order cancellation the other day.

two days later, barnes & noble had a huge sale on graphic novels. i bought even more than i had during the amazon glitch. luckily, this order came through with a shipped e-mail.  i hope that means i am receiving it! i have the walking dead compendium on its way! oh boy, two glitches in one week would be insane!

amazon fail

amazon had a glitch which marked down hardcover graphic novels & ombibuses, primarily marvel, to prices between $8 & $15 this morning.

of course, i jumped on this opportunity to pick up as many as i could including secret wars, the ultimates, invincible, daredevil, and the original x-men. the glitch was noticed by amazon possibly after highly priced graphic novels reached the bestselling books and the top 100 book sales were compromised almost entirely of marvel graphic novels.

i am hoping that the discount is honored though. i purchased almost $100 worth of products that are probably valued close to $400. i would definitely cancel my order if the pricing changes and have a small resentment towards amazon.

regardless, imagine all the comic book nerds who went on amazon and saw the top 100 list being composed entirely of marvel graphic novels. seeing as how the population of nerds is around .000815%, this means that the rest of humanity who are unaware of comic books were suddenly seeing the top 100 list full of comic books. marvel should probably thank amazon for the sweet promotion they offered, honor the promotional prices and kick up new reader marketing promotions. i would imagine that some new readers bought the sleek collected edition of the ultimates. i am all about new readers solely because i love having comic book conversations and geeking out.

as bleeding cool says, this is the day that comic books beat out twilight.

the return of bruce wayne covers

i cant decide if i like the overall concept of the story based entirely off the cover appearances of bruce wayne. its almost cheesy and as many have said, reminiscent of the return of captain america. i do love the creation of the bat symbol in the background as a way to link the six covers. thats just the design in me though. thoughts? would you like or dislike button this?

jl: cry for justice #7

i literally couldn't believe what happened during the course of the last issue of cry for justice.

here's a quick recap:
a.) lian is dead.
b.) star city was destroyed including 90,000 residents.
c.) green arrow killed prometheus.

oh and during the course of the series, freedom beast was killed & roy harper lost his arm.

that is quite alot of violence for seven issues. there are some interesting articles with reactions from the media as well as fans. overall, no one was impressed with this miniseries:

personally, i cannot believe lian was killed despite everything else that was going on. green arrow's family was a mess before this miniseries and its only transformed into something worse. i really did want to see her join the green arrow team and be trained by red arrow.

i'm guessing there will be some ramifications on the marriage of black canary and green arrow as well as the relationship between chesire and roy. this could be why chesire joined the new titans team with deathstroke.

i'm kinda disappointed that prometheus is dead, too. he was a sweet villain and i remember his introduction back in the jla.

i am definitely interested in seeing how this plays out in the upcoming green arrow and red arrow specials.

don't be too jealous.

another fave show ends

this article from the LA Times sums up my feelings for the nip/tuck finale perfectly:

Murphy says he’d always intended for the series “to begin with a bang and go out with a whisper” and the last few episodes definitely paved the wave for that. The fan sites have been buzzing with predictions of murder and mayhem and the operatic flourishes the series was known for, but Murphy, who wrote the finale, took the opposite approach. And the result was very touching.

 it looks like ryan murphy will be focusing on glee now...

and comic books win again

smallville was renewed for a tenth season today. let's hope for some more geoff johns, legion, and justice society in season ten.

best super heroines in comics

its "girl week' over at the comics alliance and the weekly crisis so i decided to create my own list of the BEST super heroines in comic books.

as always, stephanie brown in every incarnation is the best super heroine in my opinion. she is the only girl in current dc continuity to hold the title of robin. she gave birth at sixteen. her dad is a criminal. she dated tim drake. she died. she earned the trust of batman. talk about bad ass.

jean grey just can't die. with or without the phoenix force, she is a powerhouse. her return is inevitable. i'm guessing it wil be in second coming.

batwoman broke down all barriers by becoming the first super heroine to take over detective comics. her run in the title earned her winning positions on 2009 "best of" lists. oh yeah and she's the first lesbian in any of the main dc comics titles.

buffy lived(kinda) through a movie, seven seasons on television and a season in comic books. can't get any better than that. she has been an idol to teen girls and was one of the first super powered female driven shows marketed to teens.

barbara gordon started her career as batgirl and a bullet didn't even stop her. she practically controls the dc universe from her wheelchair and is an unstoppable aid to every superhero.

pixie has become a powerful x-men during the course of the past six years and graduated from new mutant to full fledged member. 

i think i am going to do worst super heroines tomorrow...

another x-men teaser

i'm pretty certain the x-men get a new teaser each day. the latest x-event, second coming, hasn't even started besides the shiteous hope prologue that was released today. that was the biggest waste of $2.99 ever. i literally finished reading, look at the cover and was relieved that it wasn't $3.99. i guess advanced marketing of x-events are necessary to get the already existing readers.

this came out of the blue...or white? i think most readers screamed at the last page of the latest issue of blackest night. i've seen fan sketches of hal jordan as the white lantern to save them all. i don't think anyone saw sinestro jumping ahead and claiming the power of the white entity. sweet art so far has been the only result of that little snatch...

i'm not sure if i'm comfortable with ganthet being a green lantern. its strange. i want to hear the explanation for that.

i cannot believe titans is switching over to a series headed by deathstroke. i wonder if that means cyborg, starfire, batman and donna are sticking with the justice league for awhile. i will be interested to see if dick grayson adopts the nightwing identity once bruce returns and if tempest will make a return since aquaman is. my ideal titans team would consist of dick grayson (nightwing), donna troy, arsenal, tempest and wally west (flash). it would be interesting to see that team train lian, impulse, robin, cerdian and sin to be the next wave of titans. that would be a sweet legacy team.
